An all-new Ford Kuga will be on sale in Australia some time in April / May 2013. Ford is introducing new technology, enhanced specifications and a turbocharged engine line-up. The vehicle is now 81mm longer, 4mm narrower and 8mm lower than the previous model and is saying that the new model has improved interior space, with extra attention paid to the rear-seat passengers and the larger luggage compartment.
It has a hands-free tailgate and the Ford intelligent all-wheel-drive system with TVC (Torque Vectoring Control). The new Kuga also boasts voice-activated Ford SYNC connectivity and includes Emergency Assistance with the ability to notify emergency services of the vehicle’s position using it’s GPS co-ordinates via your smart phone, if the airbag is deployed or the emergency fuel shut-off has been activated.
The Kuga has improved safety with seven airbags, which includes a driver’s knee airbag and has a 5-star ANCAP rating. It continues on with electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, brake assist, trailer stability function, hill launch assist, and rear parking sensors, all part of the equipment. The Titanium models have the active park assist as standard.
There is an option to include a Technology Pack. It’s additional on the Trend and Titanium and includes active city stop, adaptive cruise control, blind spot assist, lane keep assist and lane departure warning as well as auto high beam control and a driver impairment monitor. That’s a lot of technology in one car.
